Fuinneoga Fabhtachta

In aice leis an leabharlann i nGaelscoil an Eiscir Riada, tá cuig phictúir ar na fuinneoga le suaitheantas na scoile, dochtúir, audor, garda agus spásaire orthu. Bhí siad ansin ón t-am a d’oscail an scoil. Ach cúpla mhí ó shin thug Rang a Sé faoi deara go raibh an phéint an-sean agus bhí sé ag teacht as na fuinneoga. Bheartaigh triúr ó Rang 6 chun an dochtúir, an spáisaire is an suaitheantas na scoile a shocrú.

D’oibrigh siad i gcomhair cúpla seachtain. Bhí a lán cabhair ag teastáil uathu agus tá siad an-bhuíoch as an gcabhair ar fad.

By the library in Gaelscoil an Eiscir Riada, there were five paintings on the windows depicting the school crest, an astronaut, an author, a garda and a doctor. Recently those poor figures had started to look worse for wear. They had scratches and flaking paint everywhere.

Sixth class decided that this needed to be fixed so three students volunteered to re-do the astronaut, the crest and the doctor. They worked with lots of help for a couple of weeks until it was finished. Thanks to all who helped or supported the re-painting!

Folláin // Wellbeing

Dia dhuit ó Alex, Niall, Oscar agus Joe. San alt seo beidh muid ag caint faoi Wellness Walk, Box Breathing agus Am Ciúin. Tá na rudaí seo an-chabhrach ag deireadh an lae agus ar maidin nó b'fhéidir ag dul a chodladh, agus beidh gach duine sastá chun dul abhaile agus déan do obair bhaile go maith agus go tapa.

AM CIÚIN

Déanaimid am ciúin gach Aoine agus tugaimid isteach pilliúr agus

blancéid chun dul a codladh, má dhéanann tú dearmad ar do philliúr agus blancéid tá mataí chun luí air. Cuireann an múinteoir ceol suaimhneach ar siúl agus insíonn sí scéal duit mar “Imagine you are on a beach holding a balloon and you let it go. All your bad thoughts are in that balloon and now they are all gone up into space never to be seen again.

WELLNESS WALK

We do our wellness walk after we correct our homework every morning and sometimes we talk to people we don’t talk to most of the time, and sometimes we go into groups of five or less. If the weather isn’t too good we go into the halla and do our wellness walk in there, and we ask questions like “would you rather” or just random other questions like “What is your favourite celebrity, or animal etc.

BOX BREATHING

For our box breathing we breathe in for 4 seconds, keep for 4 seconds, out for 4 seconds and relax for 4 seconds. This really relaxes us and sometimes helps us to sleep. We do it everyday after the wellness walk to calm us down and get us ready for the day ahead so we can handle our work with a good mindset so we can be calm and not get angry or irritated. It also helps us think about the good and listen to the birds chirping and people talking. Go raibh maith agat agus slán ó Alex, Oscar, Joe, Niall.

Ceol Rang 6

Dia dhaoibh gach duine,

Is muidne Maebh agus Guy ó rang a 6. Tá muid anseo chun caint libh faoin gceol a dhéanamid ar scoil i rang a sé. Gach Aoine agus Céadaoin, déanamid cleachtadh ceoil sa halla.

Seinnimid a lán urlisí diffrúla sa rang seo, mar shampla, an fheadóg stáin, an bosca cheoil, an fheadóg mhór agus an consairtín. Roimh na Nollaig d’fhoghlaimar cúpla port Nollag chun ceolchoirm a dheanamh do na seandaoine i Riada house. Chomh maith leis sin d’fhoghlaimar a lán amhráin eile. D’fhoghlaimar amhráin traidisiúnta cosúil le ‘Chris Droneys’ agus ‘Britches full of Stitches’ ,chomh maith le cúpla port clasaiceach freisin. Tá muid go léir ag siúl le níos mó ceol a fhoghlaim.

Hello everyone,

We are Maebh and Guy from 6th class. We are here to talk to you about the music we do at school in sixth class. Every Friday and Wednesday, we do a music practice in the hall.

We play many different instruments in this class, for example, the tin whistle, the accordion, the flute and the concertina. Before Christmas we learned a few Christmas tunes to perform a concert for the elderly in Riada house.

We also learned a lot of other tunes. We learned a lot of traditional songs like ‘Chris Droneys’ and ‘Britches full of Stitches’ as well as a few classical tunes as well. We are all looking forward to learning more music.

Riada House - Nollaig 2021

Ar an 20ú lá de mí Nollaig, chuaigh na daltaí ó Rang a sé chuig Riada house. Thosaigh na daltaí rang a sé ag ullmhú don turas cúpla seachtain roimh an imeacht. Gach Céadaoin agus Aoine, bhí siad le feiceáil ag cleachtadh i halla na scoile agus an tseachtain roimh an gcuairt, bhí siad ag cleachtú gan stad. Chuir an Múinteoir, Íníon Ní Fhlanagáin, ríomhphoist chuig Riada house. Ansin, rinne an múinteoir socraigh liosta. Bhí amhrán Nollaig agus amharán traidisúinta sa socraigh liosta mar; oíche ciúin, away in a manger, agus joy to the world. Ar an lá, caith siad éadaí breise don súilóid shuas. Thóg siad leo na úrlisí ceol agus na cóipleabhar ceoil. Ansin shuigh siad os comhair an fhuinneog don seomra suite. Bhí áthas ar gach duine. Thug gach duine bualadh bos do. Bhí siad ann ar feadh leath-uair a chloig. Shiúil siad ar ais don scoil, áthas orthú chun spiorad nollaig a scaipeadh.

On the 20th of December, the students of Rang sé paid a visit to the residents of Riada House.

The sixth class students began to prepare for the trip a few weeks prior to the event. Every Wednesday and Friday, they could be seen practicing in the school hall and the week before the visit, they practiced non-stop.

After their teacher, Íníon Ní Fhlannagáin, contacted Riada House, they sprung into action. They prepared a set list including some old trad music as well as some Christmas songs, with harmonies added to Silent Night and Away in a Manger.

On the day of the event, they made sure to wear extra clothing on their walk up to Riada House. They brought with them their musical instruments and their music copies so that they could play the tunes perfectly. After their little walk they sat outside the main window of the dining room. All of the residents were delighted to see them and gave them a big round of applause as they played. It took them around half-an-hour to complete the set list. They walked back to the school happy to spread some Christmas spirit.
